I am a fan of the giant novelty check. It is fun when money is so huge that it takes several people to hold it. Seems there are two sizes for checks, standard

wallet size and the typical novelty size.

It would be neat to see someone take this big check thing to the next level and present one the size of a bus.

The “Share Your Heart with the Community” Valentine’s Dance and Food Drive last month, hosted by the Upper Delaware GLBT Center, produced a giant novelty check, representing $1,225 for the Ecumenical Food Pantry at the Church of the Good Shepherd and St. John the Evangelist in Milford.

The donation was made in the name of the late Linda Troise, a valued member of the community.

The dance, sponsored by J-Angelo Event Planning, raised $725 and 30 bags of food were collected. As planned the UDGLBT matched $500 of the donation.

The Valentine’s dance will likely become an annual event, organizers said.

The Upper Delaware GLBT Center is a private, non-profit organization that provides services to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer (GLBTQ) community in an effort to support, empower and encourage acceptance.
